We thought it might be helpful to have the handy travel tips listed here,
we hope you find them useful. If you have a travel tip that you feel may
benefit others, please e-mail
it to us.
- Always take out travel insurance when making travel
arrangements.
You never know what can happen, and most insurance, homeowners or
otherwise, will not cover traveling. We can help you take out a Trip
Cancellation/Interruption policy - call and ask for details.
- Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance can be purchased for as little as
$5.50 per $100 of value, or fraction thereof, on your trip.
- Most Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance packages cover the cost of "Non-refundable"
travel expenses, such as pre-paid hotel deposits, or airline tickets.
- Try to use an ATM or credit card when you travel. Avoid carrying large,
visible amounts of cash.
- You may obtain a better exchange rate when
traveling using an ATM or
credit card at a bank or cash machine.
- Don't use hotels for currency exchange, rates are always higher. Go to a
bank or ATM machine.
- Always carry ANY medication, especially prescription medication, with you in
a carry-on piece of luggage and keep it with you.
- Always take medication in the original bottle when travel. Also take a
copy of the prescription when traveling internationally (in case you run out or lose the bottle).
- Always fill your prescription medications prior to leaving on an
international trip, and make sure that it is enough to last until past your
return date, in case of delays. (Prescribed medications filled in the U.S. are
quality controlled, and international replacements may not be of equal strength
or quality.)
- Always make three photocopies of these items: travelers checks, credit
cards or ATM cards, airline tickets (especially the receipt page), The
photo page from your passport, including any Visas or pre-stickered VISA
pages required during your travel. Leave one copy in your luggage, one copy
at home with relatives, and keep one copy with you at all times. If you work, leave a copy at your office. Also, leave copies of your itinerary, in case someone needs to contact you.
- When planning travel abroad, always try to contact the tourism office,
consulate or embassy for that country to determine entry and vaccination
requirements before you leave.
- If you need maps or information about a destination, contact the tourism
board, visitors bureau, consulate or embassy, or see your local travel agent.
- Before leaving for another country, try to obtain a small amount of that
country's currency for taxi fares, tipping, and small expenses after your
arrival.
